Masked Republic is returning to Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) for its 14th appearance with a stacked lineup of legendary luchadores, exclusive merchandise, and brand-new product drops. The company, known for bringing lucha libre culture to global audiences, will once again team with Headlocked at Booth No. 1901 in the convention’s IP Pavilion.
This year’s lineup includes appearances by lucha libre stars Dragon Lee, Vampiro, and the real-life priest and luchador Fray Tormenta — whose life story inspired Nacho Libre. Fans will also have the opportunity to meet award-winning animation creator Jorge R. Gutierrez (Maya and the Three, Book of Life) during a special Friday signing for two limited-edition silkscreen prints he designed in collaboration with Masked Republic.
On the merchandise front, attendees can expect an array of licensed collectibles, including Legends of Lucha Libre action figures from Boss Fight Studio, rare Blu-ray releases of classic lucha films from Indicator, and the debut of Cinelucha: The Board Game, a new tabletop title from Masked Republic and Blacklist Games.
Other booth highlights include:
- Dragon Lee Book Signing: Thursday from 2-4 p.m.
- Vampiro Signings: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with exclusive artwork daily
- Fray Tormenta Appearance: Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., marking his first U.S. pop culture convention appearance
- Pop-Up Shopping on Sunday: Featuring The Mighty Luchador and Rudos Revolution
Masked Republic will also co-host the Headlocked and Masked Republic: Taking Wrestling Beyond the Ring panel on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Room 10. The session features creators, talent, and writers discussing the crossover between lucha libre and comics.
Fans can visit Booth No. 1901 from July 24-27 at the San Diego Convention Center. Preview Night is Wednesday, July 23.
