One of the most popular reptile pets, said to be second only to the bearded dragon, the leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) is native to the dry regions of Afghanistan, Iraq, India, Pakistan, and Nepal. A fairly large gecko, it can grow up to 20 cm long.
The Toymany leopard gecko is a small toy at just 8.5 cm long. It has been sculpted in a walking pose with its head facing forward and its torso and tail bent to the left. The right front foot is raised off the ground, but I’m not sure if this is intentional or a case of warping.
Leopard geckos come in a wide variety of colours and patterns. This one is mostly mustard yellow with white on its ventral side. The eyes are light brown and ringed with black and white, and some faint green airbrushing. The nostrils are brown, the ears are pink, and there’s a white stripe running from ear to ear. Three light pink markings are on the torso. And finally, the tail is striped with light pink and greyish purple. It may not be the first colour scheme one thinks of for a leopard gecko, but it is an accurate one.
The gecko’s body is completely covered in fine bumpy scales, with very small ones on its underbelly, larger and rougher ones on its dorsal side, and even larger and rougher ones covering its tail. Good protection against the rough sand and gravel of its habitat.
The head is wide and flattened, and vaguely shaped like a pentagon. The torso is also flattened, and quite thick. The digits lack the suction pads found on arboreal geckos, for what use would they be on dry ground? And the tail is relative short and chunky. Like other desert lizards, the tail acts as a fat reservoir that the gecko can rely on for nourishment when food is scarce. It normally eats insects, arachnids, and other small animals.
Overall, this is a very nice leopard gecko toy, and a unique-looking one as well. Nice job once again, Toymany!
